Cervelo Road Bikes are a relatively new maker of high end Road Cycles with a reputation for innovation and high performance. The Cervelo Cycle Company was founded in 1995 by Phil White and Gerard Vroomen and is situated in Toronto, Canada. Phil White and Gerard Vroomen had been involved with the design and development of Road Bikes and human powered vehicles since 1986 and had gained prominence in the field with the commission to design develop and test faster more aerodynamic Time Trial road frames for a prominent Italian Road Cycle maker. It was this that convinced the two men to start their own Bike making company in the mid 1990s. Cervelo first came to prominence in 2002 when they produced Road cycle frames for the Danish National Cycle Team and continued to produce and provide frames for the Danish team CSC until the end of the 2008 Pro Cycle Season. From 2008 on Cervelo have been created and run the Cervelo Test Pro Cycle Team. To promote Cervelo’s top end road cycles in many of the national tours including the Giro De Italia and Tour de France. The Cervelo Test Team has attracted some top names from the sport of professional cycling including 2008 Tour De France GC winner Carlos Sastre and Tour De France 2009 winner of the Green Jersey Thor Hushovd. Cervelo Bikes have a reputation for cutting edge technology and innovative design with striking style. Cervelo cycle frames are made from Hi Modulus Carbon composites and on some Cervelo bike models High grade Aluminum. All Top end Cervelo Road Frames are tested using wind tunnel technology and computer simulation during design with and emphasis on frame stiffness and aerodynamic efficiency. Wind tunnel testing is carried out from the San Diego Air and Space Tech Centre, California, USA. Cervelo frames have a distinctive style with compact frame geometry and airfoil shaped down tubes to further enhance aerodynamics. Cervelo founders Phil White and Gerard Vroomen, have a long ascociation with then Professional cycle circuit, having supplied prominent teams with Time trial frames since the mid 1980s

Cervelo supplied bikes to The CSC Saxo Bank Team until the start of the 2009 Professional cycle season when they were outbid by specialized but had the ultimate win when CSC Team leader Carlos Sastre won the 2008 Tour De France GC on a cervelo sealing overall victory with a fantastic breakaway ride on the epic Alpe D huez stage.

The Cervelo TestTeam was formed at the end of the 2008 Professional cycle season by Cervelo and as a direct result of Cervelo’ previous suppliers the Danish Team CSC Saxo Bank  switch to Specialized Bike Frames. The Cervelo Test Team holds a licence in Switzerland under the cycle management of Cycling United Racing. Cervelo had already had the honor of supplying the bikes to the 2008 Yellow Jersey Tour De France Winner Carlos Sastre, team leader of Team CSC Saxo Bank. By the start of the 2009 cycle season. The Cervelo Test Team was fully formed  and included Carlos Sastre as their newest recruit. Sastre is quoted as saying one of his chief reasons for moving from Team CSC was to be able to continue his long association with Cervelo Bikes With wins in an umber  of prominent one day races a top ten finish in nearly every race entered, stage wins in all three grand tours and  CTT Sprinter Thor Hushovd’s Green Jersey win at the 2009 Tour De France. The Cervelo Test Team’s inaugural season has been a resounding success. Helping to propel the Cervelo brand even higher. The Cervelo S3 Test Team, with its distinctive Black and yellow paint work was also voted the best looking bike of Le Tour 2009.
